About the position

This position is based at 1411 Brazos St, Austin, Texas, but is eligible for telecommuting from anywhere in the State of Texas. You must be a Texas resident to work for the Texas Workforce Commission or willing to relocate to Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Perform systems analysis and administration work supporting agency applications and associated programs within IT.
  • Ensure the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of agency's application server systems.
  • Analyze OS operation and applications on AIX, Solaris, and Linux platforms, preferably RedHat Linux.
  • Maintain and support hardware and software configurations and enhancements.
  • Work on multiple concurrent projects/tasks and meets deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain, analyze, and define disaster recovery procedures and participates in disaster recovery tests and actual recoveries as needed.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation to respond to major incidents impacting production systems on weekends and after hours.
  • May plan, assign, and direct the work of others in support of the Agency application and server systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and agency laws, rules, policies, and procedures including IT Handbook and SOPs that govern TWC IT.
  • Contribute to teamwork and communicate effectively.
  • Promote an image of IT excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and as required to maintain operations.

Requirements

  • Three years or more experience with AIX, Solaris and/or Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with supporting application frameworks and databases.
  • Experience with supporting Apache, JBoss, SAS, Drupal, PHP, FileNet.
  • Experience with scripting: shell, Perl, etc.
  • Experience with AWS cloud or GCP platform.
  • Linux, AWS, or GCP Certification.
  • Vendor management skills and change control background.
  • Multi-vendor collaboration experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of technology trends as it applies to day-to-day operations.
  • Advanced troubleshooting abilities, requirements gathering, procedure writing, and technical documentation writing.
  • Ability to work independently while understanding the need for communicating and coordinating work efforts with others.
