About the position

The Linux Systems Administrator will provide essential support for a long-term prime contract in Hanover, Maryland, focusing on the management and optimization of Linux operating systems. This role involves troubleshooting hardware issues, configuring systems, and ensuring operational stability through scripting and resource management. The position requires a TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph and is integral to maintaining the integrity and performance of IT systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for hardware problems and remain involved in the resolution process.
• Configure and manage LINUX operating systems and installations.
• Create bash shell scripts to aid in system stability and deployment repeatability.
• Manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems.
• Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution of problems.
• Optimize system operations and resource utilization, performing system capacity analysis and planning.
• Provide detailed analysis and feedback to management and internal customers for escalated tickets.
• Load operating system software, troubleshoot, maintain integrity, and configure network components.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
• Bachelor's degree plus 9 years of experience in systems administration, or 13 years of experience in systems administration without a Bachelor's degree.

Nice-to-haves

• 9+ years of bash programming experience.
• 7+ years of Perl/Python programming and LINUX (Redhat/CentOS 5 or greater) experience.
• Knowledge of web technologies (HTML, XML, Java2E, etc.).
• 3+ years of experience with virtualization or Puppet 3.
