About the position

The Linux Systems Administrator will play a crucial role in supporting mission-critical projects that directly impact national security and intelligence. This position involves managing enterprise computer systems and networks, analyzing technical issues, and developing solutions to enhance system performance and security.

Responsibilities

• Observe and interpret visual outputs indicating the operating status of systems and network components for designated computer network infrastructure.
• Translate user requests into technical diagnoses, then apply diagnoses to develop technical solutions to meet user needs.
• Develop strategies to migrate existing customers to new architecture/technology with minimal impact.
• Evaluate new technologies or equipment that can be added to Agency standard solutions.

Requirements

• Relevant experience in computer or information systems design/development, programming, information/cyber/network security, vulnerability analysis, penetration testing, computer forensics, information assurance, and/or systems engineering.
• Experience in network or system administration.
• Able to obtain an IAT-I certification, such as: A+CE, CCNA-Security, CND, Network+CE, or SSCP.
• Strong Linux experience.
• Experience in systems/network administration, application administration, and/or information technology support or management.
• Experience supporting hardware installation, such as servers and network infrastructure.
• Experience setting up storage such as network-attached storage.
• Experience implementing security best practices to include PKI certificate generation, deployment and maintenance.
• Knowledge of Unix shell scripting languages like Bash, Bourne, or C.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience deploying and maintaining nginx.
• Familiarity with Docker and RedHat Satellite.
• Familiarity with cloud computing environments like AWS.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) products like Terraform, SALT and Ansible as well as system monitoring platforms like Prometheus and Grafana.
• Experience with SELinux and FIPS.
