About the position

The Linux Systems Administrator role at L3Harris involves managing, optimizing, and securing Linux infrastructure to ensure high performance and reliability. The ideal candidate will possess advanced skills in Linux systems, particularly in kickstarting, applying Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and bash scripting. This position requires collaboration with various teams to support audits and maintain system integrity while providing flexible support as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems.
  • Design, implement, and manage automated Linux installations using Kickstart for efficient system provisioning and deployment.
  • Install software and troubleshoot application compatibility.
  • Test applications such as Jenkins, Bitbucket, and SVN.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Automate repetitive and/or complicated tasks using bash scripting.
  • Collaborate with ISSOs to support audits, maintain STIG compliance, conduct risk assessments, and remediate Nessus/STIG scan findings.
  • Implement security patches, conduct system scans, remediate findings, and participate in audits to ensure system integrity.
  • Support critical operations during standard business hours and provide flexible support as needed outside standard hours.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 6 years of prior experience, or a Graduate degree with 4 years of prior experience, or a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Active US Secret Security Clearance.
  • Ability to achieve Security+CE within 6 months of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Red Hat Certification (RHCSA or RHCE)
  • Experience with Ansible and Ansible Automation Platform (AAP)
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), build management, and/or automated test frameworks
  • Experience with Podman and/or containerization technologies
  • Experience with Active Directory (AD)
  • Experience with Virtualization (KVM/VMware) and backup technologies such as Commvault, NAS, SAN, SAS, iSCSI
  • Experience with administration of Splunk Enterprise.
