About the position

SAIC is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to support the US Army Corps of Engineers Revolutionary IT Services (USACE RITS) program. This role involves managing server builds, operational maintenance, and compliance, while ensuring effective communication with customers and implementing resolutions for operational issues.

Responsibilities

  • Gather customer requirements and complete new server builds per operational procedures.
  • Perform server decommissions per operational procedures.
  • Conduct day-to-day operational maintenance, customer support, and program compliance.
  • Execute yum/dnf installation and updates of Red Hat packages.
  • Remediate IAVM and ACAS vulnerability reports.
  • Understand and audit DISA STIG checklists, including usage of automated SCAP scans.
  • Execute Ansible automation content to audit and remediate compliance.
  • Define technical details within milestones for Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms).
  • Effectively communicate with customers and implement resolutions for operational compliance.
  • Assess, suggest, and implement system performance improvements.
  • Modify and establish storage allocation, including NFS.
  • Understand, troubleshoot, and improve functionality within SELinux, AIDE, fapolicyd, firewall, Red Hat Identity Management (RHIdM), Red Hat Satellite, and Trellix products.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and articulate findings to customers.
  • Assist customers with migrating functionality to new servers with the latest RHEL OS.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to support outages and occasional after-hours maintenance.

Requirements

  • BS degree with nine (9) years of related experience; four (4) years of IT experience accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • In-depth knowledge of RHEL operating system.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written.
  • Familiarization with VMware virtualization.
  • Familiarization with Ansible concepts.
  • Familiarization with storage concepts, specifically NFS.
  • Familiarization with DISA STIG requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automated SCAP scans.
  • Knowledge of Red Hat Satellite and Trellix products.

  • Competitive salary range of $80,001 - $120,000 based on experience and other factors.
