About the position

The Linux Systems Administrator at BAE Systems will support a technical program that delivers Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) solutions in the cloud. This role involves maintaining Linux infrastructure technology to ensure continuous uptime and providing Tier 2/Tier 3 support for IT systems implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Engineering of systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs
• Fault finding, analysis and logging of information for reporting of performance exceptions
• Proactively monitoring system performance and capacity planning
• Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on servers, workstations, and network hardware
• Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks
• Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment
• Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes
• Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments
• Provides Tier 2/Tier 3 problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution of problems
• Provides support for the escalation and communication of status to internal and external customers
• Provides support for the developed system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required
• Ten (10) years experience as a Systems Administrator in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required
• IAT Level II Certification Required
