About the position

GovCIO is currently seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to support our Courts proposal in San Antonio, TX. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of server systems, including hardware, operating systems, and utilities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with server operations, particularly with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and will be responsible for a variety of support functions including planning, deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting servers and applications. The Linux Systems Administrator will assist with restorations, application installations, and testing, providing Tier 2 and Tier 3 support as needed. This position also involves performance tuning, analysis, and support of infrastructure, as well as internal hardware management. The administrator will be responsible for configuration management and system monitoring, ensuring the centralization of courts and replication, and provisioning virtual servers and managing all related Virtual Machines (VMs). In addition, the role requires monitoring of databases and supporting the overall infrastructure environment. The administrator will analyze and resolve performance issues related to networking and operating systems, and will be responsible for application upgrades and maintenance of all hosted servers. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently under general direction, contributing to the completion of specific programs and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for server operations inclusive of hardware, operating system (OS), and utilities on the server.
  • Support functions such as planning, deploying, maintaining, and supporting servers like Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Windows.
  • Assist with restorations, application installation, testing, Tier 2 and Tier 3 support, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Provide migrations, performance tuning, analysis, and support of infrastructure and internal hardware.
  • Provide configuration management and system monitoring, responsible for centralization of courts and replication.
  • Provision virtual servers and manage all related Virtual Machines (VMs).
  • Monitor databases and support the infrastructure environment.
  • Analyze and fix performance issues related to networking and OS, and provide application upgrades.
  • Responsible for configuration management, monitoring, and maintenance of all hosted servers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5-8 years of experience or commensurate experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of Linux System Administration, particularly Red Hat.
  • Experience with VMware Virtualization - design, installation, and administration.
  • Experience with database systems, specifically Informix.
  • Experience developing project management standards and ensuring adherence to procedures.
  • Experience preparing formal written technical content for project development and management.
  • Experience overseeing, coordinating, and monitoring IT systems development and testing efforts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with hardware support skills, particularly HP Blades and Hitachi Storage.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain Public Trust clearance.
