About the position

IronArch Technology is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to support the Department of Defense High Performance Computing Modernization Program and the Air Force Research Laboratory. The role involves maintaining the operation of Linux-based systems, ensuring efficient resource allocation, and participating in the installation and maintenance of HPC systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform standard Linux System Administration duties to maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems.
  • Set up administrator and service accounts, maintain system documentation, and tune system performance.
  • Install system-wide software and allocate mass storage space.
  • Develop and monitor policies and standards for computing resource allocation.
  • Participate in the installation, integration, acceptance testing, and ongoing maintenance of HPC systems and software environment.
  • Assist with forecasting resource limitations and provide recommendations for efficiency improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 4+ years' working experience, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years' experience with Linux systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)/CentOS.
  • DoD 8570 certification - Security + and OS cert, Linux+, RedHat, etc.
  • Willingness to occasionally work after hours and/or respond to emergency situations.
  • General knowledge of Linux systems concepts and systems administration experience.
  • Ability to develop and maintain documentation on system administration procedures.
  • Ability to create and maintain Information Assurance (IA) compliance documentation.
  • Top Secret Security Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with various HPC technologies such as Cray/Cray EX, IBM, SGI, Penguin, or custom architectures.
  • Familiarity with Linux variants OS.
  • Experience with InfiniBand (IB), Intel Omni-Path interconnects.
  • Knowledge of Portable Batch System (PBS), SLURM, or IBM Platform Load Sharing Facility (LSF) schedulers.
  • Experience with Intel Xeon, AMD EPYC, or ARM CPUs.
  • Familiarity with Nvidia graphic processing units (GPUs).
  • ITIL Foundation certification.
