About the position

The Linux Systems Administrator role is essential for supporting the SITE III JIOC contract within the National Programs Business Intelligence Systems & Applications Operating Unit. This position focuses on the orchestration, sustainment, and advancement of applications critical for Collection Management, Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), and intelligence operations. The role involves ensuring the reliability and continuous improvement of systems through best practices in architecture design, data science, cloud services, DevSecOps, and platform integration, ultimately contributing to national security and community safety.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the smooth operation of multi-user computer systems in collaboration with network engineers.
  • Monitor and manage system resources to maintain efficiency.
  • Perform security administration tasks, including creating user profiles and managing accounts.
  • Offer Tier 3 support for problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution.
  • Manage operating system configurations, system documentation, performance tuning, software installations, system hardening, and storage allocation.
  • Evaluate vendor products and recommend hardware and software purchases, coordinating installation and ensuring effective backup and recovery strategies.
  • Develop and enforce policies and standards for computing resource allocation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an area applicable to the position with 10+ years of relevant experience (additional 4 years' experience may be considered in lieu of degree).
  • Minimum TS clearance and willingness to upgrade to TS/SCI and pass a polygraph.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with systems administration, including Linux or CentOS.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and take decisive action.
  • Experience maintaining applications built on a PostgreSQL or Oracle database.
  • Experience writing scripts to monitor system services, resources, data mine logs, etc.
  • Experience writing SQL and PL/SQL to generate system data reports, modify data as necessary, etc.
  • Experience with Keytool and OpenSSL.
  • Experience maintaining systems in cloud environments.
  • Experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Security Group.
  • Experience with ACAS (Assured Compliance Assessment Solution) and STIG (Security Technical Implementation Guide) compliance remediation or equivalent security requirements and tools.
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting Java and Oracle applications.
  • DoD 8570 Compliant holding current IAT level II baseline certification (Security+ CE, GICSP, SSCP, etc.).
