About the position

Peraton is seeking a highly skilled Linux Systems Administrator IV to support an Intelligence Community customer in the Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area. This role is pivotal in maintaining high availability across critical systems, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and ensuring optimal system performance. The position requires a strong focus on systems monitoring, patch management, and security compliance, contributing to mission-critical operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily system monitoring and monthly patching to ensure optimal system health and uptime.
  • Rapidly troubleshoot and resolve network and application performance issues via a ticketing system.
  • Collaborate with government customers, project leads, security officers, application vendors, and end users to ensure seamless operations.
  • Lead the creation and revision of key technical documentation, including SOPs, STPs, and SIPs.
  • Implement system hardening and security protocols to ensure compliance with STIG and patching requirements.
  • Be available to troubleshoot critical issues and perform software patching during off-hours when required.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI w/poly OR SCI eligibility and ability to successfully pass a polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree applicable to the position and at least 8 years of relevant experience, or 12 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with systems administration, with at least 3 years in Linux administration.
  • Strong experience with Unix, Linux, and CentOS operating systems, comfortable administering from the command line.
  • Strong understanding of system hardening and security through STIG implementation and patching.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud.
  • Experience with VMWare.
  • Active Security+ certification (DoD 8570 Baseline certification for IAT Level II).
