About the position

The Linux Systems Administrator will be responsible for the installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of both Linux and Windows-based systems. This role involves providing operational support, ensuring system integrity and security, and collaborating with various teams to integrate applications effectively. The position requires expertise in managing server infrastructures, particularly in AWS and CentOS environments, while also focusing on automation and performance monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily operational support for Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems and applications
  • Support virtual and physical infrastructure of servers running CentOS in a dev, test, and production configuration
  • Develop and maintain environments running in Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Maintain the integrity and security of systems by monitoring security feeds and dashboards
  • Develop and maintain standards and procedures for applications across a complex computing infrastructure
  • Monitor application and operating system performance; analyze, document review and remediate incidents
  • Develop and oversee implementation of testing strategies and document the results
  • Leverage scripting and system automation tools
  • Research and recommend hardware and software, coordinate installation, and provide backup recovery
  • Collaborate with system administrators, engineers, and the client to ensure proper integration of applications
  • Work with tech team to complete required maintenance and patching, DTOs, File Transfers
  • Provide security reports (e.g. Log files, Scans, etc.)

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience with Redhat and/or Centos
  • Demonstrated experience with VMWare ESXi infrastructure 6.x + vCenter server
  • Demonstrated experience in server builds using automated mechanisms
  • Demonstrated experience with Ansible and/or Puppet
  • Demonstrated experience with Ansible playbooks for provisioning and configuration management
  • Demonstrated experience with building, upgrading and maintaining applications in AWS
  • Demonstrated experience with code maintenance using Git, Gitlab, and/or Github
  • Demonstrated experience with Atlassian Jira and Confluence
  • Demonstrated experience with managing Elasticsearch on CentOS
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with other systems administrators and engineers
