About the position

Corvid Technologies is seeking a Senior Linux Specialist to join their technical team, focusing on supporting a command-line only infrastructure. The role involves managing and troubleshooting RHEL 7/8 operating systems in a high-paced environment, where attention to detail and problem-solving skills are crucial. The ideal candidate will work independently without reliance on external support or graphical interfaces, contributing to the company's mission of providing customized engineering solutions through advanced computational technologies.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot RHEL 7/8 operating system issues on air-gapped networks.
• Frequent use and understanding of man pages.
• Debug hardware and software problems on the Linux infrastructure.
• Write custom scripts to automate system tasks and troubleshoot server or network issues.
• Improve skillset and gain new knowledge.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field (mathematics, engineering, computer sciences, physics, etc.).
• Strong background in RHEL 7/8.
• Proficiency test demonstrating command line capabilities without internet resources, external guidance, and limited peripherals.
• U.S. Citizen & ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Excellent sense of humor.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with scientific and/or engineering code development.
• Configuration management and automation (e.g. Ansible, Salt, Puppet, CFEngine, Chef).
• Broad understanding of network technologies and security.
• Experience with Git version control.
• Experience with RHEL derivatives like CentOS, specifically EL 7 and 8.
• Active security clearance.
