About the position

Leidos is seeking a Linux System Administrator to support DISA's GSM-O II contract at Ford Island, Hawaii. The role involves maintaining the operation of multi-user computer systems primarily running Redhat Linux, along with Windows Server, within a global network management system. The candidate will work independently in a fast-paced environment, providing support during business hours and being on-call for emergencies. The position requires familiarity with service level agreements and performance metrics.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, coordinating with network administrators.
• Set up administrator and service accounts, tune system performance, and install system-wide software.
• Allocate mass storage space and interact with users to evaluate vendor products.
• Make recommendations for hardware and software purchases, coordinate installations, and provide backup recovery.
• Develop and monitor policies and standards for computing resource allocation.
• Create, maintain, and implement detailed documentation and standard operating procedures.
• Coach and review the work of lower-level technical staff.
• Provide support on a Monday to Friday schedule, with on-call, extended hour, and weekend support as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline and 8 years of related experience with Unix or Redhat Linux.
• Experience with VMware Vcenter and associated products.
• Experience with integration of Network Management (NM) and Element Management (EM) systems.
• Experience with support systems including enclave Ethernet switches, SAN, and NAS.
• Proficiency in shell scripting (e.g., bash) and experience in other programming languages like Perl.
• Application of security settings and best practices such as DISA STIGS.
• Active Top Secret security clearance is required.
• DoD 8750 certification at least IAT level II, e.g., Security+ce.
• Experience working in an AWS cloud environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with a ticketing system such as BMC ITSM.
• ITIL v3 Foundation certification.
• Windows Server experience.
• Experience working with virtual environments.
• Thorough knowledge of networking principles including TCP/IP.
