The LINUX Systems Administrator position at BAE Systems is a critical role that supports the daily operations of the MATCH program under the D3I Contract. The primary responsibilities include monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, capacity management, provisioning, hardware and software configuration, patching, upgrades, and performance monitoring/tuning. This role is essential for the design, development, demonstration, and integration of new capabilities that deliver mission-relevant information to the Warfighter, ensuring secure access for the Army and other Department of Defense (DoD) and Joint agencies. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of six years of system administration experience in Red Hat LINUX, along with the ability to compose clear and concise system documentation and reports. Additional technical experience or certifications such as LINUX LPIC, Red Hat RHCSA, or Red Hat RHSE are also required. The position demands expert knowledge in LINUX (Redhat) administration, familiarity with various OSS tools for managing and troubleshooting Linux infrastructure, and proficiency in LINUX/UNIX shell scripting and Ansible scripting. Candidates should have strong experience in applying STIG checklists, administering servers, backup operations, and systems monitoring in complex network environments. Experience with datacenter migrations, server upgrades, O/S and firmware patching, and maintaining high-availability SLAs is crucial. The role also requires knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery documentation, cybersecurity practices, server hardening, and DMZ deployment. Strong writing and communication skills, along with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook, are also necessary for success in this position.
