About the position

SAIC is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to support the Army Research Laboratory's IT Modernization program, providing a full range of Enterprise IT services to enhance ARL's research mission. This role involves operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex operating systems, workstations, and servers, ensuring optimal performance and data integrity. The position is contingent upon contract award expected in fall/winter 2024 and will be performed at the Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), MD.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-level operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex operating systems, workstations, and servers.
• Coordinate, direct, and perform complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
• Schedule installations and upgrades, maintaining them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
• Monitor and tune multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
• Ensure workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
• Develop and implement a schedule of system backups and database archive operations to ensure data/media recoverability.
• Plan and implement the modernization of servers.
• Develop, implement, and promote standard operating procedures and schedules.
• Conduct hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Active Top Secret clearance.
• Security+ certification.
