About the position

Peraton is seeking a Linux System Administrator to support environmental information management and compliance enterprise software solutions. This role involves maintaining Linux-based environments for web applications, ensuring compliance with DoD security standards, and supporting various teams in the deployment and management of systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide input and guidance on architecture decisions regarding middle-tier changes.
• Evaluate new technologies, determine the viability of solutions, and make recommendations.
• Partner with Data Center operations and infrastructure teams for seamless deployments and proper documentation.
• Maintain several environments in line with security changes and patches, adhering to certification standards.
• Perform builds and deployments in support of testing upcoming releases and configuration management.
• Support development, implementation, and help-desk teams with requested issues, both local and remote.
• Stand up, maintain, backup, tune, and secure required systems, including physical and virtual servers, operating systems, and middle-tier software.
• Occasionally provide after-hours or weekend troubleshooting support for urgent production issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience, or 6 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Understanding of Linux Operating System administration in server environments.
• Experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux server (RHEL).
• Linux-based shell scripting experience.
• Some familiarity with SQL.
• Capability and motivation to obtain the CISSP certification.

• Oracle Database installation and administration experience.
• SAP Business Objects installation and administration experience.
• Apache Tomcat middle-tier application server administration experience.

• Java application builds and deployments to Tomcat experience.
