About the position

The Linux Systems Administrator will support an IT Managed Services program in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which includes a workforce of over 500 personnel providing Enterprise IT support, Service Desk, and Telecommunications support. The role involves maintaining user environments and delivering expert support for scientific and engineering applications, ensuring the smooth operation of classified and unclassified IT systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform Linux Administration duties.
• Perform installations and patching of Linux operating systems.
• Assist customers with the installation and updates of applications.
• Install software and troubleshoot software install issues.
• Monitor systems and perform hardware troubleshooting, tracking, resolution, and routine maintenance and security updates.
• Perform system backups and provide data recovery.

Requirements

• Must have a Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience OR an Associate's degree and 5 years of experience OR a High School degree and 8 years of experience OR equivalent.
• Must have an ACTIVE DOE Q or TOP SECRET clearance.
• Linux Server System Administration & UNIX experience of at least 2 years.

Nice-to-haves

• RHEL Satellite administration experience.
• STIGS implementation experience.
• Ability to research, assemble, and evaluate information or data regarding industry practices or applicable regulatory changes and recommend sound, practical solutions to complex issues.
• Experience with automation platforms such as Ansible, VMware, Python for at least 1-3 years.
• Experience in Bash, PowerShell, or other scripting language for automating System Admin tasks or troubleshooting existing processes.
• Experience with container technology, such as Kubernetes, RKE, Docker, etc.
