About the position

The Linux Systems Engineer position at Acclaim Technical Services involves providing engineering services for network infrastructure and enterprise computing systems, including Linux Platform-as-a-Service. The role requires expertise in Linux, automation, and systems engineering to support a key government customer. The engineer will work on complex projects involving multi-Cloud services, virtualized applications, and sophisticated data center solutions, ensuring compliance with enterprise technical architecture and assisting in project management reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering and implementation of Linux Platform-as-a-Service.
  • Capture, analyze, decompose, and design system requirements.
  • Analyze, design, develop, deploy, and provide lifecycle support for innovative hardware systems and applications.
  • Generate requirements and perform independent verification and validation using tools.
  • Utilize systems engineering tools such as DOORS, JAMA, and JIRA.
  • Identify technical trends in information technology and understand ongoing IT projects and business unit requirements.
  • Apply project management models (e.g., Agile, Spiral, Waterfall) for development efforts.
  • Support Systems Engineering Lifecycle (SELC) processes.
  • Use Digital Twin technology to enable virtual designs.
  • Ensure developed systems comply with the enterprise technical architecture.
  • Assist in keeping senior management apprised of project or program status.
  • Support project and program teams in preparing for program management reviews.

Requirements

  • Experience with Linux, Ruby, and Python for automation of Linux service delivery.
  • Proven experience in systems engineering and lifecycle support.
  • Familiarity with requirements generation and verification tools.
  • Experience with systems engineering tools (DOORS, JAMA, JIRA, etc.).
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and principles.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering principles.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with IT system automation including AI/ML.
  • Familiarity with automated testing and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Terraform).
  • Knowledge of Security Development Operations (SecDevOps).
  • Experience with cloud design, implementation, and configuration.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code.
  • Knowledge of Agile development principles.
  • Proficiency in modern software languages (e.g., Java, C, C++, C#, Python, Perl).
