About the position

The Linux Team Lead at GovCIO is responsible for leading enterprise system administration and engineering of major Linux operating platforms. This role involves coordinating complex IT projects, ensuring adherence to configuration management policies, and acting as a liaison for customer support and business development activities. The position is fully remote, allowing for flexibility in work location while managing technical teams and overseeing system performance.

Responsibilities

  • Gathers information concerning the capabilities of Company products and investigates technical capabilities of competing equipment and solutions.
  • Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer descriptions and ensures compliance through formal verification methods.
  • Translates high-level product development strategies into network and system requirement specifications.
  • Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures related to network and system development.
  • Designs interfaces and integrates network and system elements to function cohesively.
  • Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures.
  • Acts as a customer liaison and supports business development activities to understand and shape requirements.
  • Coordinates planning, design, and installation of equipment using engineering and programming knowledge.
  • Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of design concepts.
  • Installs new hardware, systems, and software for networks.
  • Designs, creates, and builds network services, equipment, and devices.
  • Generates system-level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures.
  • Monitors system performance and implements performance tuning.
  • Reviews test plans/procedures to ensure they meet contractual requirements and participates in the testing process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience or commensurate experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in Linux system administration and engineering of major operating systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
