About the position

The Linux/Windows System Administrator at Oceanit is responsible for the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems within a complex network environment. This role requires technical competence and problem-solving skills to manage IT system infrastructure and ensure the reliability and performance of operating systems. The position emphasizes collaboration within a team to address and resolve technical issues effectively.

Responsibilities

• Configure and manage Linux and Windows operating systems, including installation and enhancement of software.
• Troubleshoot and maintain the integrity of network components and operating systems.
• Provide day-to-day support for IT systems, including monitoring and problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices and mobile devices.
• Document policies and procedures, and train end users on system usage.
• Communicate ticket status to management and internal customers, ensuring proper escalation of issues.
• Manage access control, including Active Directory (AD) and mobile device management (MDM).
• Analyze and resolve complex problems related to server and workstation hardware and software integration.
• Manage and configure license servers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent years of related work experience.
• Five years of related experience in system administration.
• Ability to write scripts in administrative languages such as Perl, Python, VBScript, or Windows PowerShell.
• Experience with NIST 800-171 compliance.
• Familiarity with VMWare and/or Hyper-V.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of Linux distributions such as Ubuntu and Red Hat.
• Experience with modern automation/configuration management tools like Chef.
• Knowledge of Mac management and security.
