About the position

Lippincott is seeking a Visual Communication Designer for their entry-level pipeline, located in New York, New York. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about design and eager to contribute to a creative consultancy that specializes in brand and innovation. The role is designed for those who are pursuing a bachelor's degree in graphic design or have an equivalent portfolio of work. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of design principles and demonstrate creative abilities across various media, including static, dynamic, and interactive formats. As a Visual Communication Designer, you will participate in the conceptualization and development of preliminary concepts into refined, comprehensive design solutions. Your responsibilities will include working on logo designs, visual systems, guidelines, and presentations, both individually and collaboratively within a team. You will also support the production and coordination of design audits, conduct background research on identity, and create mood boards for projects. A key aspect of this role is bringing brand stories to life through print, digital interaction, animation, and motion design. However, it is expected that employees will spend at least 50% of their time in the local office each month. Responsibilities

  • Participating in conceptualization and developing preliminary concepts into refined comprehensive design solutions.
  • Working on logo designs, visual systems, guidelines, and presentations both individually and as part of a team.
  • Supporting the production and coordination of design audits.
  • Conducting background research on identity and creating mood boards for projects.
  • Bringing brand stories to life through print, digital interaction, animation, and motion design.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in graphic design or equivalent portfolio of work.
  • An understanding of how to apply basic design principles to creative work.
  • Demonstrated creative ability across a range of static, dynamic, and interactive media.
  • Strong technical abilities in InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Proficiency in motion/film editing software such as After Effects and Cinema 4D and/or interaction design software is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to set priorities and manage time effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate ideas.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with motion and interaction design software is preferred.
