About the position

The Litigation Associate Attorney will join an international law firm specializing in class-action and complex plaintiffs' litigation. This role is based in the Berkeley office and offers a hybrid work environment, requiring three days in the office each week. The position is open-ended with the potential for conversion to a permanent role, and it involves a 40-hour workweek. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in litigation, particularly in class action and antitrust cases, and will be responsible for managing various aspects of legal cases from investigation to trial preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and vet potential new cases for technical and legal issues.
  • Maintain a deep knowledge and understanding of all facts in assigned cases.
  • Review, summarize, and highlight evidence gathered from documents.
  • Research legal facts and regulations for new cases.
  • Conduct all phases of civil discovery, including drafting written discovery and preparing for depositions.
  • Draft briefs, memoranda, and other legal documents.
  • Prepare for hearings, trials, and depositions.
  • Identify and work with experts, including selecting and preparing expert witnesses.

Requirements

  • Active license and good standing in California.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with 2+ years of litigation experience, preferably in class action and antitrust.
  • Highly accomplished academic and employment credentials, with federal law clerk experience being a plus.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Superior writing, drafting, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Results-oriented, self-starter with a high level of initiative.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently.
  • Ability to manage highly confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in class action and antitrust litigation is strongly preferred.
  • Federal law clerk experience is a plus.

  • Hourly pay range of $57.69-$86.54, depending on experience.
