About the position

The Litigation Docketing Specialist at K&L Gates is responsible for managing docketable information related to litigation, ensuring accurate calendaring, and supporting the firm's legal staff. This role involves processing and docketing events, generating reports, and maintaining compliance with court rules across various locations. The position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support published procedures related to docketable information from outside sources or K&L Gates' lawyers/staff.
  • Calender within the firm's litigation docketing database.
  • Create and distribute reports related to docketing.
  • Work with lawyers to confirm the accuracy of case dockets.
  • Manage all source information according to firm practices.
  • Review, process, and docket necessary events from source information.
  • Generate and distribute weekly and on-demand docket reminder reports.
  • Date, stamp, and log all source information according to published procedures.
  • Code and file all source information in the firm's designated system of record.
  • Maintain knowledge of court rules and local court procedures for supported locations.
  • Establish and maintain positive rapport with firm lawyers and legal support staff.
  • Contribute to the firmwide docketing team's efforts and help train other staff.
  • Perform relief and/or project duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience.
  • Two or more years of experience as a litigation legal secretary, paralegal, or docketing support.
  • Computer literate and familiar with automated technologies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of court rules.
  • Ability to plan and organize projects and analyze problems proactively.
  • Ability to work independently and focus on time-sensitive tasks with attention to detail.
  • Typing speed of 40 wpm accurately.
