About the position

The Litigation Legal Assistant/Paralegal at Fraser Trebilcock Davis & Dunlap, P.C. plays a crucial role in enhancing attorney effectiveness by providing comprehensive support in managing litigation processes. This position involves a variety of responsibilities including document preparation, case management, and ensuring compliance with legal procedures, all aimed at facilitating the smooth operation of legal proceedings.

Responsibilities

  • Compose and type a variety of legal documents and correspondence.
  • Transcribe legal digital dictation and compile data for exhibits and reports.
  • Proofread, redline, and edit documents prepared by assigned attorneys.
  • Open and maintain legal files according to accepted legal practices and Firm policy.
  • Provide case management assistance and maintain attorney client matter lists.
  • Docket crucial litigation and track litigation deadlines.
  • Maintain attorney calendar and schedule conferences, depositions, and travel.
  • Process time-sensitive state and federal court filings, including e-filings.
  • File correspondence and legal documents in the office filing system.
  • Ensure proper indexing and filing of original legal documents for easy retrieval.
  • Process billing, time entry, and expense reimbursements.
  • Organize and copy documents produced for opposing attorneys and trial exhibits.
  • Schedule appointments, coordinate meetings, and provide information to callers.
  • Conserve attorney time by reading, researching, and routing correspondence and legal documents.

Requirements

  • Five or more years' experience of litigation legal support.
  • Excellent written, verbal, proofreading, grammar, editing, and math skills.
  • Competent operation of office equipment including computers and fax machines.
  • Responsible, organized, detail-oriented, and possess critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local court filings, including e-filings.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint and Teams is helpful.
  • High production skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
