About the position

Bell Nunnally, a highly respected business law firm with a record of success spanning over four decades, is seeking a litigation legal assistant for its office in the Arts District of downtown Dallas. The firm is one of the largest law firms in North Texas based on attorney headcount and offers a full range of services such as litigation, commercial finance, bankruptcy, intellectual property, labor and employment, mergers and acquisitions, immigration, and real estate. Our firm has been recognized as a "Top 100 Place to Work" by the Dallas Morning News and has won a "Compass Award" from the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). The responsibilities of the litigation legal assistant include preparing correspondence and legal documents, including editing and formatting appellate briefs, and organizing files. The assistant will assist assigned attorneys with meetings, hearings, and trials, including preparing notebooks, scheduling, and calendaring. Additionally, the role involves assisting with client billing and preparing expense reports. We seek someone with a “team player” mindset, who has an interest and ability in applying critical thinking skills and takes initiative and ownership in the team effort. The ideal candidate should have a general working knowledge of the rules of civil procedure and e-filing in state and federal courts in Texas, with knowledge of appellate procedure strongly preferred. The ability to create Tables of Contents in Word and Tables of Authorities using Litera's Best Authority, as well as correctly formatting legal citations for appellate briefs, is essential. The candidate must perform work with a high level of accuracy in a high-volume and deadline-driven environment, possess excellent spelling and proofreading skills, and have accurate typing skills of 80+ wpm. Excellent computer skills, including scanning and electronic filing of documents, are also required. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to be a productive self-starter who can anticipate needs, identify problems, find solutions, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision. Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills are crucial for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements
