In this role, you will be involved in all aspects of litigation, from the initial stages through to post-trial activities. You will assist attorneys in managing cases, ensuring that all documentation and case materials are organized and client-ready. Your responsibilities will include supporting the discovery process, preparing for depositions, and conducting document reviews. You will also play a key role in trial preparation, which may involve attending trials, creating trial notebooks, and coordinating witness schedules. Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys in litigation cases from onset through post-trial.
  • Manage calendaring requirements.
  • Oversee utilization of documents and case-related materials, ensuring client-presentable and efficient work areas and case rooms.
  • Support discovery process including preparing for depositions, propounding and responding to written discovery, and preparing for expert discovery.
  • Conduct document reviews; prepare documentation regarding criteria changes; track and report on review progress and results.
  • Prepare witness interview memoranda, review and summarize documents, depositions, and court transcripts, and create and use substantive coding tools.
  • Assemble motion papers and exhibits, coordinate filings of pleadings and briefs.
  • Perform simple and complex cite checking and proofread legal documents.
  • Assist with trial preparation, attend trials (sometimes out of state), including creating trial notebooks, organizing exhibits, coordinating witness schedules, and maintaining trial calendars.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree and a valid Paralegal Certificate.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a litigation paralegal in a law firm, preferably with products liability experience.
  • Familiarity with Relativity, Concordance, Summation, and other relevant programs.
  • Trial experience, including exhibit preparation, witness preparation and management, knowledge of subpoena preparation, and experience working with judicial assistants and trial presentation vendors.
  • Experience assisting attorneys in the courtroom.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in products liability cases.
  • Familiarity with Westlaw.
