About the position

TempExperts is partnering with an established Law Firm in Jacksonville, Florida, to find an experienced Litigation Paralegal/Legal Assistant. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for candidates who are well-versed in various areas of law, including Construction Defect, General Liability, Auto, Premises, Personal Injury, and Wrongful Death matters. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing cases from litigation intake through to settlement or verdict, ensuring that all legal processes are followed meticulously. In this role, the Litigation Paralegal/Legal Assistant will prepare a variety of legal documents and correspondence under the supervision of an attorney. This includes drafting summonses, pleadings, notices, motions, and subpoenas. The candidate will also be tasked with preparing and responding to pleadings such as complaints, discovery requests, and motions, as well as preparing discovery requests like Interrogatories, Requests for Admissions, and Requests for Production. Trial preparation is a critical aspect of this position, where the paralegal will manage trial exhibits, prepare trial notebooks, maintain expert binders, perform jury research, and communicate with both experts and fact witnesses. Conducting legal research and maintaining the legal compliance of case matters, including depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial deadlines, will also be part of the job. The paralegal will serve as a liaison between clients, opposing counsel, retained experts, vendors, and witnesses, ensuring smooth communication and coordination throughout the litigation process. Familiarity with billing practices is considered a plus for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage case from litigation intake through settlement or verdict.

  • Prepare and respond to pleadings such as complaint, discovery request, and motions.
  • Prepare discovery requests such as Interrogatories, Requests for Admissions, and Requests for Production under attorney supervision.
  • Assist with trial preparation: manage trial exhibits, prepare trial notebooks, maintain expert binders, perform jury research, and communicate with experts and fact witnesses.
  • Conduct legal research.
  • Maintain and monitor the legal compliance of case matters such as depositions, mediation, hearing, and trial deadlines by maintaining the accuracy of the attorney's calendar.
  • Serve as liaison between clients, opposing counsel, retained experts, vendors, and witnesses.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • 1-3+ years of litigation experience required.
  • Comfort and efficiency with supporting multiple attorneys required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with billing is a plus.
