About the position

The Litigation Paralegal position at Bibiyan Law Group, P.C. is a full-time role based in Los Angeles, California, focusing on supporting attorneys in various litigation tasks, particularly in employment and class action law. The ideal candidate will be responsible for drafting motions and mediation briefs, propounding and responding to discovery, and managing case files. This role requires a strong understanding of legal procedures and the ability to handle complex and confidential materials in a timely manner. The paralegal will also be tasked with maintaining attorneys' calendars, submitting electronic filings through state and federal court systems, and drafting legal correspondence while ensuring accuracy in grammar, spelling, and formatting. In addition to these responsibilities, the paralegal will supervise questionnaire campaigns for class and PAGA cases, assist in the preparation and revision of various legal documents, and work closely with third-party administrators for class notices and distributions. The position demands excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. The firm emphasizes a collaborative work environment, and while in-office work is preferred, hybrid arrangements may be possible after an initial orientation period. Responsibilities

  • Draft basic motions and mediation briefs, including the creation of shells.
  • Propound and respond to discovery requests.
  • Prepare meet and confer letters.
  • Create and file PAGA Letters and Complaints online.
  • Work with Third Party Administrators for Class Notices, Declarations, and Distribution Timelines.
  • Organize and maintain law libraries, documents, and case files.
  • Supervise questionnaire campaigns for class and PAGA cases.
  • Draft first drafts of settlement agreements and MOUs.
  • Maintain attorneys' calendars with important dates such as hearing dates and filing deadlines.
  • Submit filings through the state and US Federal Court Case Management/Electronic Case File (CM/ECF)/PACER system.
  • Draft and review legal correspondence, proofreading for errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting.
  • Assist with preparation and revision of correspondence, pleadings, discovery submissions, and arbitration/mediation documents in state and federal matters.
  • Handle a wide variety of complex and confidential, time-sensitive material.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (strongly preferred)
  • Paralegal Certification
  • 1+ years of litigation experience, preferably in employment and/or class action law
  • Superior legal research and writing skills
  • Knowledge of service deadlines for various litigation tasks, including familiarity with the California Code of Civil Procedure
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of state and federal courts and agencies within labor and employment law practices
  • Bilingual (Spanish) strongly preferred, but not required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Active listening and critical thinking abilities
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient in software programs such as Filevine, GSuite, Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Excel.
