We are a thriving Personal Injury law firm based in New York, actively seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of three years of demonstrable experience in handling Personal Injury cases. This position is not remote; candidates must be able to commute to work and must have legal citizenship. Unqualified candidates will not be considered. The selected candidate will be expected to exhibit proficiency in conducting meticulous research and adeptly drafting complaints for personal injury claims arising from a broad spectrum of scenarios, including motor-vehicle accidents, premises liability, animal attacks, product liability, medical and dental malpractice, assault, battery, and false arrest claims. Proficiency in a wide range of legal motions, petitions, and orders is essential, including but not limited to motions for default, vacating, renewal, reargument, leave, appellate briefs, time extensions, restoration, withdrawal of counsel, protective orders, discovery extensions, compulsory actions, preclusion, striking, quashing, contempt, summary judgments, speedy trial violations, class certification, infant compromises, and legal memoranda. The role also involves skillfully drafting demands, Bills of Particulars, interrogatories, notices to admit, subpoenas, future pleadings, proposed orders, pretrial disclosures, stipulations, judgment enforcement, and replies to crossclaims. Preparing cases for mediation, trial, and arbitration is a key responsibility, which includes scheduling witnesses, expert testimony, blow-up exhibits, trial evidence, verdict sheets, and adherence to judge and part rules. The candidate will collaborate with court clerks, judges, and coordinate jury instructions. Demonstrating proficiency in various legal technologies and software, including PACE, WCB eCase (NY), NYSCEF (NY), eLaw (NY), eCourt (NY), EDDS (NY), Google Workspace, SmartAdvocate, and LexisNexis is crucial. Holding a Notary Public designation is also required. The candidate will provide comprehensive support throughout the entire case lifecycle, including client interaction, coverage evaluation, investigation, assessment, reserves management, negotiation, and case resolution, all while maintaining meticulous written records. In addition to the above, the candidate will have experience in establishing new Bodily Injury claims, processing No-Fault applications, managing settlement packages, loss wages, property damage claims, mileage reimbursement, and appointment scheduling. Proficiency in navigating the Personal Injury claims process and managing caseloads independently along with calendar management is essential.
