About the position

The Litigation Paralegal will support a litigation team specializing in education law by managing case files, assisting with court filings, and preparing materials for hearings and trials. This role requires a strong understanding of state and federal court procedures and excellent organizational and legal research skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys in managing all phases of litigation, from initial case assessment through trial.
  • Prepare, draft, and organize legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery responses, subpoenas, and exhibits.
  • Conduct legal research, fact investigation, and document review related to education law issues.
  • E-file documents in state and federal courts and ensure compliance with all applicable filing requirements and deadlines.
  • Maintain and organize case files, including document management, discovery tracking, and file indexing.
  • Assist in coordinating witness interviews, depositions, and preparation for hearings and trials.
  • Prepare trial binders, exhibit lists, and other trial-related materials.
  • Assist with discovery, including preparing and responding to discovery requests, summarizing depositions, and organizing document productions.
  • Liaise with clients, experts, opposing counsel, and court personnel to facilitate case progression.
  • Prepare summaries and chronologies of key documents and case events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-accredited program.
  • 4-5 years of experience as a litigation paralegal, with experience in both state and federal court systems.
  • Proficient in electronic court filing systems for both state and federal courts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal software such as Relativity, iManage, or similar.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional and client-focused demeanor.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with education law is a plus but not required.
