About the position

The Litigation Paralegal will provide essential support to the legal team in managing complex litigation matters. This role involves assisting attorneys throughout all phases of litigation, from case intake to trial preparation and discovery management. The ideal candidate will possess strong legal knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys, clients, and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial client intake and gather comprehensive case details.
  • Assist attorneys in evaluating the legal viability of potential cases.
  • Ensure accurate entry of client information into LawMatics and perform conflict checks.
  • Coordinate client onboarding by preparing and sending new client packages and managing retainer agreements.
  • Draft and prepare discovery documents, including deposition notices and subpoenas.
  • Manage and organize discovery materials using Clio and Everlaw.
  • Summarize deposition transcripts and assist with discovery deficiency letters.
  • Assist in the preparation of motions related to discovery.
  • Provide comprehensive litigation support, including preparing case files for hearings and trials.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents under attorney supervision.
  • Coordinate with court reporters and manage attorney calendars.
  • Facilitate communication with the court, opposing counsel, and clients.
  • Attend weekly or bi-weekly case status meetings to provide updates.
  • Assist attorneys in managing ethics investigations and submit required filings.
  • Organize exhibits for in-office depositions and ensure availability of materials.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or paralegal certification is strongly preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in litigation paralegal work, particularly in discovery management and trial preparation.
  • Proficiency in legal software, including Clio and Everlaw, is desirable.
  • Strong legal research, drafting, and communication skills are required.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities to manage multiple complex cases and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with ethical standards and legal procedures is necessary.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Westlaw is a plus.
