Kiernan Trebach LLP, a respected Civil Litigation Defense Law Firm, is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join our team in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have 4-6 years of experience in litigation support, particularly in Insurance Defense and Medical Malpractice matters. This position requires in-person attendance at our Washington, DC office, where the paralegal will support multiple lawyers handling cases in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. As a Litigation Paralegal, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are crucial to the success of our litigation team. Your duties will include scheduling Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs), conducting docket searches, retaining experts, and sending documents for expert review. You will gather medical records and other discovery materials through various means, including authorizations, subpoenas, and social media. Additionally, you will track, organize, and prepare discovery materials for counsel, experts, and witnesses, assist attorneys with trial preparation, and maintain files in our document management system. General office administration functions will also be part of your responsibilities. We are looking for a proactive individual who demonstrates creative thinking, strong research skills, and superior verbal and written communication abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and attention to detail are essential, along with experience using legal research programs such as Lexis Nexis. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in obtaining medical records and preparing medical chronologies in the DMV region, as well as a solid understanding of the legal process for preparing subpoenas in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines are crucial for success in this role.
