About the position

Litchfield Cavo LLP is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to support its litigation defense attorneys in the New Jersey office. The firm, established in 1998, emphasizes client service and operates across 23 offices nationwide. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of paralegal experience, particularly in litigation, and will be responsible for managing various legal tasks, including the discovery process, while contributing to a dynamic and professional work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare court-ready state and federal pleadings, motions, and responses to motions for e-filing with state and federal courts in New Jersey.
  • Maintain and organize a high volume of discovery.
  • Manage multiple projects with competing deadlines in a busy legal environment.
  • Draft and respond to discovery requests, including interrogatories, requests for production, requests for disclosure, requests for admission, and deposition notices.
  • Organize large volumes of case-related documents and locate specific documents quickly.
  • Support assigned attorney in defense litigation practice, including phone conferences, meetings, case deadlines, hearing and trial dates, mediations, and depositions.
  • Document, organize, and assist with preparation for trials and arbitration hearings.
  • Save, file, and organize pleadings, motions, and related e-filed or emailed documents daily.
  • Maintain a daily calendar with the ability to forecast and prioritize relevant deadlines.
  • Enter billing time daily, in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and a positive attitude with colleagues, clients, co-counsel, and court personnel.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of litigation paralegal experience.
  • Proven knowledge of electronic filing requirements at state and federal courts in New Jersey.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Ability to work proactively, independently, and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-directed and self-motivated with the ability to work under tight time constraints.
  • Proficiency with MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and PDF maker (Nuance or Adobe Pro).
  • Experience with iManage is a plus.
  • Possess a Paralegal Certificate.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in insurance defense is a plus.
