About the position

Vernis & Bowling's downtown St. Petersburg office is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join their fast-paced insurance defense firm. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in General Liability or Construction Defect insurance defense, and will be responsible for summarizing records, scheduling court-related functions, conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, assisting in trial preparation, and maintaining the attorney's calendar.

Responsibilities

• Summarizes records and court files.
• Schedules couriers, court reporters, expert witnesses, and other special functions.
• Researches sources such as statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, constitutions, and public records.
• Drafts, prepares, and performs limited reviews of legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, discovery materials, appeals, and contracts.
• Assists in trial preparation and discovery practices, including gathering and organizing exhibits and trial data.
• Serves as a limited liaison between counsel, clients, experts, witnesses, third parties, and other outside contacts.
• Maintains attorney's calendar by planning and scheduling conferences, teleconferences, and depositions.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal in General Liability or Construction Defect insurance defense.
• Valid Paralegal Certificate certification.
• Experience with Westlaw.
