About the position

We are seeking a litigation paralegal to assist a growing litigation team in Vero Beach, FL. This full-time position is designed for individuals who are passionate about supporting attorneys in their business needs and contributing to the success of the litigation department. As a litigation paralegal, you will play a crucial role in managing various aspects of case preparation and legal documentation. Your responsibilities will include drafting, formatting, and proofing legal pleadings and correspondence, which encompasses discovery documents and motion drafting of varying complexity. You will also be responsible for scheduling hearings, meetings, conferences, depositions, and mediations, ensuring that all parties are informed and prepared for these events. In addition to administrative tasks, you will conduct research to support legal proceedings, utilizing tools such as Westlaw. Your experience will be invaluable in providing assistance during discovery preparation, motion practice, and trial preparation. The role requires managing multiple ongoing assignments and participating in department-wide projects as needed. You will also track billable hours and assist attorneys with billing, invoicing, and collections, ensuring that all financial aspects of the cases are handled efficiently. Communication is key in this role, as you will be expected to interact professionally and politely with clients regarding their matters, billing, and case status. This position offers a competitive salary range of $45,000 to $60,000 per year, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, and a 401(k) plan with matching contributions. The work environment is in-person, requiring relocation to Vero Beach, FL, before starting work. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience as a litigation paralegal and possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting attorneys with case management.
  • Drafting, formatting, and proofing of legal pleadings and correspondence, including discovery documents and motion drafting.
  • Scheduling hearings, meetings, conferences, depositions, and mediations.
  • Conducting research to support legal proceedings, with Westlaw training/experience.
  • Providing experienced assistance in discovery preparation, motion practice, and trial preparation.
  • Managing multiple ongoing assignments and participating in litigation department-wide projects as needed.
  • Tracking billable hours and assisting attorneys with billing, invoicing, and collections.
  • Communicating with clientele professionally and politely regarding their matters, billing, and status.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal required.
  • Experience with electronic filing of court documents.
  • Professional and personable demeanor towards court staff, opposing counsel, and clientele.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software, particularly Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
  • Deadline and detail-oriented.
