About the position

The Litigation Paralegal position in Pittsburgh, PA, is designed for individuals with 3-8 years of experience in the legal field, particularly in litigation. The role involves supporting attorneys and paralegals in various administrative and legal tasks within the Litigation practice group. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal procedures, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support attorneys and paralegals on administrative items including receiving and opening mail and distributing it to the appropriate parties.
  • Maintain attorney's calendars by setting appointments, coordinating schedules, and setting up meetings and pleadings.
  • Transcribe dictation for correspondence including letters to clients, engagement letters, and memos.
  • Draft and review legal correspondence, proofreading for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting.
  • Communicate with courts and prothonotaries, answering phones and managing inquiries.
  • Utilize PACER to search dockets, party information, and download pleadings.
  • Handle state filings and navigate various county and prothonotary websites.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word, as well as PDFdoc.

Requirements

  • 3-8 years of experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant.
  • Paralegal certificate or degree is a plus.
  • Active Notary license is a plus.
  • Solid writing and editing skills with a focus on developing thoughtful and persuasive messaging.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work in and adapt to a fast-paced work environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with state filings and familiarity with various county and prothonotary websites.
  • Experience with PDFdoc.
