About the position

Everstaff is seeking a Litigation Paralegal for a prominent law firm in the Akron area. The Litigation Paralegal will play a crucial role in managing cases and supporting attorneys throughout the litigation process. This position requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members. The ideal candidate will be responsible for obtaining, reviewing, and organizing medical records, investigating insurance coverage, and preparing damage summaries that include medical expenses, lost wages, and property damage. Additionally, the paralegal will log daily mail, prepare and forward medical records to insurance carriers, and draft necessary correspondence for case management. The Litigation Paralegal will also verify balances and assist with subrogation lien resolution, prepare check requests, maintain check records, and mail checks. Assisting attorneys with settlement documentation and disbursements is another key responsibility, along with preparing disbursement summaries. Communication is vital in this role, as the paralegal must maintain consistent and regular communication with clients regarding case status, provide weekly reports, and participate in monthly team meetings. The paralegal will also support other team members in their absence and is expected to meet or exceed goals while maintaining regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Other duties may be assigned as necessary, and reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Highly proficient in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of legal practices and procedures.
  • Familiarity with standard business practices and general office administration procedures.
  • Strong command of English grammar, usage, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Proficiency in using computers and related software applications.
  • Knowledge of research procedures.
  • Experience in preparing legal documentation.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience required.
  • Paralegal certificate required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
