About the position

As a Litigation Paralegal, you will support the bank's Legal Department by providing essential administrative, legal, and eDiscovery assistance to in-house legal counsel. This role is crucial for managing the bank's litigation portfolio and ensuring compliance with legal processes, while also enhancing client service and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in-house legal counsel with management of legal notices served on the Bank and the bank's litigation portfolio.
  • Review and route legal notices, ensuring timely responses to claims, complaints, subpoenas, and other legal processes.
  • Process new complaints and open new matters in the matter management/e-billing system for tracking and reporting.
  • Assist with discovery productions and coordinate with other business units on document productions and legal holds.
  • Draft, review, and process settlement documents and disposition reports.
  • Perform legal research and interface with outside counsel, internal clients, and customers as needed.
  • Provide administrative support to in-house legal counsel, including preparation and revision of legal documents and reports.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of document management systems and legal forms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience in Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or Banking with emphasis on Litigation, OR
  • Associates and 4 years of experience in Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or Banking with emphasis on Litigation, OR
  • High School Diploma or GED and 6 years of experience in Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or Banking with emphasis on Litigation.
  • Knowledge of civil litigation and legal processes required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills - interpersonal (oral and written).
  • Advanced organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Detail oriented with customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently but take direction as required.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with e-discovery.
  • Paralegal Certification preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant within Litigation.
