About the position

We seek a paralegal with demonstrated litigation case management experience to work within our Labor and Employment and Product Liability and Complex Torts practice groups. This individual will assist on all litigation tasks from fact investigation to discovery to trial for multiple cases at a time. Our ideal candidate will be flexible, have the ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment that may require some travel, and handle a high level of responsibility within collaborative client teams. The paralegal will conduct legal research and locate cases, depositions, opinions, reports, and other relevant information related to the matter; contact and interview witnesses. They will draft and respond to written discovery, prepare initial drafts of pleadings, disclosures, written discovery, and pretrial documents on a proactive basis. The role also involves coordinating the issuance and service of subpoenas, preparing responses to subpoenas, and managing the Bates-stamping, redaction, duplication, indexing of case documents, and review of documents. Additionally, the paralegal will prepare various chronologies of key facts, key documents, and key individuals; track and create production charts. They will create and maintain internal case databases, run searches on internal and external document databases and systems, and oversee the progress of documents through litigation support departments while fulfilling requests from outside counsel and others. The position requires organizing interview memos, digests, and other relevant documents for attorney review and case preparation; preparing witness and matter materials for deposition preparation. The paralegal will maintain a deposition database, gather and prepare documents relevant to the deponent, organize exhibits, and digest transcripts to summarize highlights of the proceeding. They will also organize declarations and exhibits for motion and discrimination charge responses, prepare for and attend trials, organize exhibits, files, and all other supporting documents, coordinate trial set-up and logistics, and assist attorneys in the courtroom by taking notes, handling exhibits, and marking documents referred to by counsel.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 5+ years litigation paralegal experience with a strong background in high level case management responsibilities.
  • Prior experience working in labor and employment, preferred.
  • Certificate from an ABA-approved Paralegal program and/or a 4-year degree.
  • Strong technical aptitude and solid hands-on experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, Relativity and Trial Director.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing all aspects of complex e-discovery workflows from collection to production.
  • Experience with trial preparation, trial presentation, and attending trial.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively establish priorities while working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to take direction from multiple persons, be proactive and take initiative in moving cases forward.
  • Strong decision making and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven track record of delivering excellent client service.
  • Ability to be flexible with work hours in order to meet the demands of work load and client needs.
