In this position, you will be responsible for drafting a variety of legal documents, including pleadings, interrogatories, subpoenas, and legal briefs, under the guidance of an attorney. You will also handle the filing of litigation documents electronically and assist in preparing files for trial by conducting legal research, organizing exhibits, and coordinating with clients, witnesses, and experts. Effective communication is key, as you will interact with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel via phone and email. Additionally, you will manage and organize client files, ensuring that all pertinent medical records, bills, and liens are up to date, while also maintaining deadlines and scheduling court appearances. Responsibilities

  • Drafting legal documents including pleadings, interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pre-trial orders, legal briefs, discovery requests, and affidavits under the guidance of the attorney.
  • Filing litigation documents electronically (E-file).
  • Working closely with the attorney to prepare files for trial by conducting legal research, preparing and organizing exhibits, filing motions, and coordinating with clients, witnesses, and experts.
  • Communicating via phone and email with clients, opposing counsel, judicial assistants, and other court personnel.
  • Assembling chronologies of pertinent facts and documents.
  • Managing, organizing, and updating client files to include medical records, bills, and liens.
  • Maintaining and managing deadlines, court appearances, and scheduling.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of litigation paralegal experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience preparing records, assembling exhibits, pleadings, summarizing transcripts, discovery, and trial preparation.
  • Strong computer proficiency in MS Office Suite, PDF Viewers (AdobePro, Nuance, etc.), and case management systems.
  • Proficiency with the Florida E-Filing portals and procedures.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of Florida Civil Rules and Procedures.
