About the position

A prominent LA-based regional law firm is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Litigation Paralegal to join its legal team in its headquarter office. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive paralegal support to litigation attorneys and play a crucial role in case preparation, legal research, document management, and trial support. This position requires a high level of professionalism, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. The Litigation Paralegal will be instrumental in ensuring that all legal documents are prepared accurately and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of the legal team. The role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and other staff members to meet deadlines and achieve favorable outcomes for clients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced paralegal assistance to attorneys and staff.
  • Investigate and compile information on legal issues, statutes, rules, precedents, facts, evidence, codes, and contracts for case preparation.
  • Ensure accuracy in proofreading and formatting legal citations, adhering to the Blue Book and California Style Manual.
  • Assist in drafting various legal documents, including pleadings, motion filings (e.g., Requests for Judicial Notice, Declarations), and discovery-related documents (e.g., interrogatories, deposition notices).
  • Occasionally draft correspondence for communication with opposing counsel, clients, and vendors.
  • Prepare subpoenas, manage related information, coordinate service of subpoenas, and handle proofs of service.
  • Manage tasks related to producing documents in response to discovery requests, including redactions, bates labeling, and privilege log creation.
  • Organize and assist in trial or administrative hearing preparation, including subpoena preparation, deposition transcript tracking, and preparation of trial exhibits and related materials.

Requirements

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Experience as a paralegal in a litigation setting.
  • Proficient in legal research and document management.
  • Strong proofreading skills with attention to detail in legal citations.
  • Ability to draft legal documents and correspondence effectively.
  • Familiarity with trial preparation processes and discovery management.
