Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, a global Am Law 50 firm, is seeking an experienced and well-organized Litigation Paralegal to join our Houston office. This position is crucial in supporting litigation attorneys throughout all phases of cases, from the initial filing to trial and appeal. The Litigation Paralegal will be responsible for assisting attorneys in the litigation department, ensuring that all aspects of the litigation process are handled efficiently and effectively. This includes managing the initiation of cases, overseeing the discovery period, and providing support during trial and post-trial findings and appeals. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of litigation and trial procedures, as well as federal, state, and appellate court rules and procedures across the nation. The role demands strong technical, organizational, and administrative skills to manage a variety of duties and responsibilities. Given the fast-paced and high-pressure environment, the ability to prioritize tasks and remain flexible is essential. Collaboration with firm personnel at all levels is integral to the success of this position, as the Litigation Paralegal will work closely with attorneys and other staff members to ensure the smooth progression of cases. Candidates must have a minimum of 1-3 years of Litigation Paralegal experience in a law firm setting. The ability to self-manage projects, monitor discovery and filing deadlines, and ensure compliance with statutory pre-trial deadlines is critical. Experience with voluminous document productions and e-discovery is also required. The position may require working overtime, evenings, and weekends as needed, and candidates should possess excellent spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills. Education requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, with a bachelor's degree or some college preferred. An ABA-approved paralegal certification is also preferred. Proficiency in Windows 10, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Professional, Zoom, and Teams is necessary, along with experience in document management systems such as TrueFiling, Relativity TextMap, CaseMap, and PageVault. The current firm policy allows for hybrid working, requiring a minimum of three days in the office each week, with the possibility of working from home for the remainder. Minimal domestic travel may be required, up to 10%.
