About the position

A mid-size D.C. Law Firm is seeking a Paralegal to join their team, presenting a great opportunity for individuals with at least 2 years of experience in a previous law firm. This position is fully on-site and permanent, requiring a commitment of 40 hours weekly. The salary for this role ranges from $75,000 to $95,000, depending on experience. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys by understanding filing and procedural rules for state and federal courts in the DC, MD, and VA jurisdictions, as well as federal appeals boards. The paralegal will assist in the preparation and filing of court pleadings, motions, and other legal documents. They will also support attorneys in preparing for depositions, hearings, trials, arbitrations, and mediations. Document review and management will be a significant part of the role, including the use of ESI software. Additionally, the paralegal will conduct research related to mechanic's liens, enforcement of judgments, and other legal issues, while also organizing, managing, and maintaining case files. Maintaining a litigation calendar and calendaring relevant dates will be essential to ensure that all deadlines are met efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding filing and procedural rules for state and federal courts in DC, MD, and VA and federal appeals boards
  • Assisting with preparation and filing of court pleadings, motions, and other documents
  • Assisting attorneys in preparation for depositions, hearings, trials, arbitrations, and/or mediations
  • Document review and management, including use of ESI software
  • Research associated with mechanic's liens, enforcement of judgments, and other legal issues
  • Organizing, managing, and maintaining case files
  • Calendaring relevant dates and maintaining litigation calendar

Requirements

  • Must have 2 years previous law firm experience
