About the position

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal to join our legal team at ACTS LLP. As a Litigation Paralegal, you will provide essential support to our attorneys in all stages of the litigation process. This role is crucial for ensuring that our legal team operates efficiently and effectively, allowing us to deliver exceptional legal services to our clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for the legal field and possess excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. In this position, you will conduct thorough legal research and analysis on case-specific issues, assisting attorneys in drafting legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery requests/responses. You will be responsible for managing case files and maintaining organized electronic and physical document repositories. Coordination with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel will be a key part of your role, as you will schedule hearings, depositions, and other proceedings. Additionally, you will assist with trial preparation, which includes preparing exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders. Your responsibilities will also involve reviewing and summarizing medical records, deposition transcripts, and other relevant documents. You will conduct client interviews to gather pertinent case information and provide administrative support as needed. Organizing and maintaining electronic case files within the company software/case management system will be essential to ensure that all information is easily accessible and up-to-date. Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on case-specific issues
  • Assist attorneys in drafting legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests/responses
  • Manage case files and maintain organized electronic and physical document repositories
  • Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel to schedule hearings, depositions, and other proceedings
  • Assist with trial preparation, including preparing exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders
  • Review and summarize medical records, deposition transcripts, and other relevant documents
  • Assist in conducting client interviews and gathering relevant case information
  • Provide administrative support as needed
  • Organize and maintain electronic case files within the company software/case management system

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program
  • Minimum of 3 years of litigation paralegal experience, preferably in civil litigation/personal injury
  • Strong understanding of California civil procedure and litigation practices
  • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software
  • Professional and courteous to clients and staff
  • Demonstrate good ethics, judgment and maintain the confidentiality of files
