About the position

We are seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with our talented attorneys, providing essential support before, during, and after trials. Your responsibilities will include preparing a variety of legal documents such as pleadings, motions, affidavits, complaints, and legal memoranda. You will also be responsible for e-filing all court documents in both state and federal courts, ensuring compliance with all relevant rules and regulations. Effective communication is key in this position, as you will be liaising with clients, the court, opposing counsel, and other parties involved in the litigation process. Conducting thorough legal research and factual investigations will be a significant part of your duties, as will preparing discovery documents, interrogatories, and responses. You will draft and serve summons, coordinate and summarize depositions, and prepare trial binders and exhibits to support our attorneys during trial. In addition to drafting pleadings, motions, and appellate documents, you will perform various administrative duties such as calendaring hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and managing logistics. Maintaining pleadings and discovery indexes, organizing exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices, and aiding attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests will also be part of your responsibilities. You will gather relevant information from a variety of sources and assist in witness preparation, case settlements, and any other tasks as requested by the attorney.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, complaints, legal memoranda
  • E-file all court documents in state and federal court
  • Communicate with clients, court, counsel, and others
  • Conduct legal research and factual investigation

  • Draft and serve summons

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and appellate documents and file them with the court

  • Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices
  • Aid attorney with interrogatories and other discovery requests
  • Gather relevant information from a variety of sources
  • Liaise between trial teams and internal/external third parties
  • Prepare witnesses
  • Assist with case settlements
  • Perform other tasks as requested by the attorney

Requirements

  • Associate degree, certificate, or equivalent work experience (preferred)
  • 2+ years of litigation experience (required)
  • Completion of a nationally accredited paralegal program (preferred)
  • Experience in Personal Injury, WC, Premises, or other injury-related practice areas (preferred)
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage workload with a positive attitude and minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in calendaring depositions, mediations, and hearings
  • Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules, and procedures
  • Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Extensive computer and database expertise; Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and typing speed of no less than 35 wpm
