About the position

As a Litigation Support Analyst in the Fraud Section of the Criminal Division, you will play a crucial role in supporting the investigation and prosecution of fraud cases, particularly those related to cryptocurrency. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with trial attorneys on the National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will be involved in various legal and administrative tasks that are essential for the success of the Section's mission. Your responsibilities will include providing in-courtroom assistance, managing case organization, and maintaining documentation for ongoing investigations and trials. This role is ideal for individuals at the beginning of their legal careers who possess a strong technical curiosity about cryptocurrency and its implications in the legal field. In this position, you will be expected to perform a variety of tasks that support the attorneys in their work. This includes assisting with case organization and maintenance, preparing for recurring cryptocurrency conferences attended by federal agencies, and providing in-courtroom support during trials. You will also be responsible for utilizing eDiscovery platforms to conduct document reviews, summarizing findings, and maintaining positive relationships with various stakeholders, including DOJ components and federal agencies. The ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously and work under strict time constraints is essential for success in this role. You will be expected to deliver high-quality work consistently, even in high-pressure situations, and to communicate effectively with team members and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide case support to the Fraud Section of the Criminal Division.
  • Assist trial attorneys on the National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team.
  • Perform legal and administrative duties as requested by attorneys for investigations and trials.
  • Assist with case organization and maintenance.
  • Prepare the team for recurring cryptocurrency conferences attended by federal agencies.
  • Provide in-courtroom assistance, exhibit collection, and review.
  • Conduct legal research as needed based on trial demands.
  • Utilize eDiscovery platforms for document review and communicate detailed summaries of findings.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with DOJ components, federal agencies, and counsel.
  • Organize and prioritize numerous tasks effectively under strict time constraints.
  • Log and organize incoming and outgoing discovery productions.
  • Proofread materials for contextual, grammatical, and formatting errors.
  • Summarize articles, reports, and witness statements.
  • Review documents for relevance according to established guidelines.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience on major litigation support projects or an undergraduate degree.
  • Highly organized with the ability to work independently in a team environment.
  • Ability to quickly learn computer applications with some guidance.
  • Excellent writing skills and oral communication capabilities.
  • Hands-on familiarity with the Government's office and network environment.
  • Knowledgeable user of the Government's office and network environment, including word processing, spreadsheet, imaging, and hardware systems.
  • Ability to deliver consistent high-quality work in a deadline-driven environment under pressure.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
  • Familiarity with the Criminal Justice system.
  • Persistent and diligent attitude towards work assignments.
  • DOJ MBI must be obtainable (US Citizenship required).
