About the position

The Little Thinkers Preschool Substitute at Thinkery plays a vital role in supporting the preschool program by implementing a STEAM-based curriculum for children aged 3 to 5. This part-time position involves collaborating with educators to create a positive learning environment, managing classroom activities, and ensuring the safety and well-being of students. The ideal candidate is adaptable, passionate about early childhood education, and committed to fostering a nurturing atmosphere for young learners.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementing Thinkery's Preschool program and curriculum for children ages 3 and 4.
• Collaborate with another educator to meet the individual developmental needs of each child.
• Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment in compliance with Texas Department of Family and Protective Services standards.
• Co-facilitate STEAM-based activities and lessons using provided lesson plans.
• Prepare activities and materials for daily lessons in collaboration with other educators.
• Support students needing extra guidance and manage classroom behavior based on established expectations.
• Ensure health and safety of staff and students during all activities.
• Clean and sanitize the preschool classroom and learning resources as needed.
• Assist with drop-off and pick-up routines for students.
• Report and document any accidents or unusual behaviors to the classroom team.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least one year of experience in a licensed childcare center.
• CPR/First Aid certification required.
• Minimum of 24 clock hours of Early Childhood Pre-service training within the last 12 months preferred (8 hours required upon hire).
• Experience working with diverse populations.

Nice-to-haves

• Spanish fluency is a plus.
• Creative problem-solving skills and calmness during challenging situations.
• Behavior management skills with an early childhood approach.
