The Live Event Manager at NESN will play a crucial role in overseeing the technical aspects of live pre, in-game, and postgame coverage for various sports events, including Red Sox Baseball, Boston Bruins Hockey, and Pittsburgh Penguins games. Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations, this position requires collaboration with the Manager of Engineering and the VP of Content to ensure seamless production workflows across departments. The Live Event Manager must possess excellent communication skills, as they will be responsible for conveying technical information and challenges throughout the organization. This role demands a strong understanding of control room and studio operations, including audio and video signal flow, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment that requires creativity and calm leadership. The responsibilities of the Live Event Manager include managing the nightly operational workflow, overseeing linear and streaming production, and maintaining collaboration with various teams to identify workflow gaps. The manager will also be tasked with developing and recommending best practice improvements, scheduling production meetings, and preparing logistics recommendations for daytime stakeholders. This position requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to identify new procedures to enhance operational efficiency. The working hours will primarily be during nights, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the nature of live sports events. Candidates for this position should have a minimum of six years of progressively complex related experience, including at least four years in a managerial or supervisory role. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively in various formats are essential. The Live Event Manager must be a self-starter who can work independently while also thriving in a team environment.
