About the position

The New York office of Frost Productions is seeking a highly-motivated and experienced individual to join our production team as a Video Production Manager. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful production of all video-related aspects of events for Frost Productions. The Video Production Manager will work closely with the Video Services Manager and will have diverse responsibilities across onsite, office, and shop settings. This position requires collaboration with clients and internal teams, including Accounts, Production, Operations, and Warehouse, to design and execute video projects effectively. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment, which are essential for success in this role. In this position, the Video Production Manager will be responsible for working with the Accounts team and clients to efficiently finalize proposals and budgets in a timely manner. They will collaborate on the overall design and specification of video systems for all events requiring video services. The role also involves drafting video systems in Vectorworks and coordinating with production managers to integrate these systems with master job drawings. On-site, the Video Production Manager will provide video staff with clear technical documents for each event, including drawings, signal-flow diagrams, and run-of-show documents. Additionally, they will support freelance staff by providing instructional material, conducting hands-on training sessions, and gathering feedback from field experiences. The Video Production Manager will also be responsible for coordinating with Accounts and Production to advance all content needs and manage media pipelines. They will oversee the upkeep and low-level maintenance of video equipment, working with the Video Shop Technician and Warehouse Manager to ensure gear is in good working condition, software is up-to-date, and inventory levels are maintained. During live events, the Video Production Manager may act as a video engineer, video operator, and video lead, providing oversight and support to freelance crew, particularly during larger or more complex jobs. Keeping up with video technology as it pertains to live events and contributing to discussions regarding future acquisitions will also be part of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Accounts team and clients to efficiently finalize proposals and budgets in a timely manner.

  • Coordinate with Accounts and Production to advance all content needs and manage media pipelines.

  • Work with the Video Shop Technician and Warehouse Manager to ensure gear is in good working condition, software is up-to-date and inventory levels are maintained.
  • Act as video engineer, video operator and video lead in live events, as scheduling needs dictate.
  • Provide oversight and support to freelance crew in the field, particularly during larger/more complex jobs.
  • Keep up with video technology, as it pertains to live events and contribute to the discussion regarding future acquisitions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years of live video experience (Special Events, Corporate, Theatrical) with a minimum of 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Advanced knowledge in the concepts of video engineering.
  • Multi-Output Systems design, including systems driven by media servers feeding a combination of destinations.
  • Proficiency in Vectorworks.
  • Advanced skills in Video switching and signal distribution equipment (Analog Way Systems).
  • Proficiency with standard video-related software such as Mitti, Playback Pro, Qlab and Resolume.
  • Working knowledge of video-related rigging gear and practices.
  • Basic video post-production skills (Premiere, After Effects).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as organization and time-management skills.
  • Availability and willingness to work extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays, and be on call, as necessary.
  • Punctuality, professionalism, and a positive, collaborative attitude when working with clients and co-workers.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
