About the position

The Live Production Manager position is a critical role within a chicken grow-out facility located in Eastern North Carolina. This position is responsible for overseeing and managing the operations of three hatcheries and three feed mills, ensuring that all processes run smoothly and efficiently. The Live Production Manager will be tasked with communicating effectively with subordinates, peers, senior management, and external personnel to optimize performance and resolve any issues that may arise. This role requires a strong focus on developing, implementing, and monitoring the Live Production budgets to ensure financial accountability and operational success. In addition to budget management, the Live Production Manager will enforce compliance with company policies regarding bio-security, food safety, and poultry welfare programs. This includes maintaining adherence to all local, state, and federal regulations related to poultry production. A significant aspect of this role is to maintain a safe working environment for all employees, which involves regular assessments and adherence to safety protocols. The Live Production Manager will also be responsible for analyzing trends and variables within the production process to identify problem areas or successes. This analytical approach will enable the manager to take appropriate actions to enhance productivity and address any challenges that may arise in the production cycle. Overall, this position is vital for ensuring the operational excellence of the facility and the welfare of the poultry produced.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and provide direction for 3 hatcheries and 3 feed mills.
  • Communicate effectively with subordinates, peers, senior management, and non-company personnel to ensure optimal performance and resolution of problems.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Live Production budgets.
  • Enforce compliance with company requirements regarding bio-security, food safety, and poultry welfare programs and policies.
  • Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations as they relate to poultry production.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Analyze trends and variables to identify problem areas or successes and take appropriate action.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Animal Science is preferred; other degrees and years of experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience (with a degree).
  • Poultry husbandry experience.
  • Hatchery experience.
  • Broiler experience.
  • Feed mill experience.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to Animal Welfare guidelines.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to OSHA guidelines for live poultry production and feed mill facilities.
